Get RunwayCal alerts in Slack where your team already communicates.
What it does
Connect Slack to receive real-time RunwayCal alerts directly in your team's Slack channel. Get notified about burn rate changes, revenue updates, payment reminders, runway warnings, and more, where your team already communicates.
Prerequisites
- A Slack workspace where you have permission to add apps
- A channel where you want to receive alerts (e.g., #finance, #platform-alerts)
Step-by-step setup
Create an Incoming Webhook in Slack
- 1.Go to api.slack.com/apps
- 2.Click "Create New App" then "From scratch"
- 3.Name it "RunwayCal Alerts" and select your workspace
- 4.In the left sidebar, click "Incoming Webhooks"
- 5.Toggle "Activate Incoming Webhooks" to On
- 6.Click "Add New Webhook to Workspace"
- 7.Select the channel where you want alerts (e.g., #finance)
- 8.Click "Allow"
- 9.Copy the webhook URL (starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/...)

Paste the webhook URL in RunwayCal
- 1.In RunwayCal, go to Settings then Integrations tab
- 2.Find the Slack card under "HR & Payroll" section
- 3.Paste the webhook URL into the URL field
- 4.Optionally enter a channel name for display purposes
- 5.Click "Connect Slack"

Verify connection
- 1.Click "Send test message." You should see a confirmation message appear in your Slack channel within seconds.

What you'll see after connecting
The Slack card shows a connected state. Click "Send test message" to confirm alerts arrive in your chosen channel. All alert types are active when Slack is connected.
Alert types

Troubleshooting
No messages appearing
Check that you selected the correct channel when creating the webhook. Also verify the webhook URL starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.
Connection failed
The webhook URL may have been revoked. Create a new one in Slack and update it in RunwayCal.
Too many alerts
Alert frequency settings are coming in a future update. For now, all alert types are active when Slack is connected.
